Mantova Village brings fashion, sport and lifestyle together in a single pedestrian precinct laid out like a small Italian town, at Bagnolo San Vito, just outside Mantua, the Renaissance city of the Gonzaga dynasty. Alongside the big international names you will find plenty of Made in Italy: Nike, Levi's, Guess, Timberland, Calvin Klein and Tommy Hilfiger among them. The Village states prices from 30 to 70 per cent below the official shops, right through the year. Between purchases, the restaurants serve the local Mantuan kitchen, from tortelli di zucca (pumpkin-filled pasta) to sbrisolona (a crumbly almond cake), with lighter international dishes for a quicker stop. There is free parking, hands-free shopping, Wi-Fi, a children's play area, facilities for pets, electric-car charging and VAT refunds for non-EU visitors. When you want a change from the lakeshore, it makes an easy, well-equipped detour.
